This
month's lead article expands on our answer to a readers question... "Why do
you offer earring studs with gems and not ear wire or other styles?"
As
usual, I'll give you the short answer first and then elaborate.
The
short answer is... two reasons, customer service and economics.
Earring studs with
gems have a prominent place in most ladies jewelry collection. They are
appropriate for every day use... and for the occasional elegant evening
out.
There are several ways to affix ornamentation
to your ears, the most common of these are:
Cuffs
Clips
Lever backs
wire hooks (ear wire, French wire, etc.)
Post and nut (studs)
When we were asked to offer earrings, we made
a decision to offer the popular (and fashion compulsory) studs with gemstones.
Further, we opted to offer 14 karat gold and natural gemstone studs.
Customer queries had already told us what
attributes were most wanted. In order of preference, those attributes are:
Birthstone earrings
Great prices
Round, faceted gemstones
Two sizes were most wanted... 4 mm
and 7 mm
Gems in other colors
We then set out to find manufacturers
offering stud earrings that would fulfill our customer's desires.
We found that we could import birthstone
earrings from Thailand. We offer birthstone
earrings in 4 mm size at very attractive pricing.
We found that we would need to manufacture
our own gemstone stud earrings to get the quality, variety, size, and selling
price that our customers wanted.
Our earring
studs with gems feature natural gems imported from South America, and
quality 14 K yellow gold studs made in the USA. We have the stones set by our
bench jeweler right here in Scottsdale, Arizona.
We invested substantially in the gold
components back when gold prices were only one third of today's price. .. but we
still sell these 7 mm gemstone stud earrings at the original price.
A Google search using the search box below
and the keyword phrase earring studs with gems (or similar keywords) will show you a number
of links and ads. You'll find a myriad of styles, but you will not find better
prices.

JCK Las Vegas Jewelry Show
The JCK Las Vegas Show in now underway at the Sands Expo & Convention
Center. The show began on Saturday and ends on Tuesday (June 2)
Us you would anticipate in this down economy, there appears to be noticeably
fewer exhibitors and attendees.
I think the missing exhibitors' slim bank accounts outweighs the possibility
that they will lose their priority status as exhibitors for future shows.
Slim bank accounts and slow store traffic appears to be the primary reasons
for fewer attendees.
We all look at business and general economic conditions and we adjust and innovate
to survive and prosper.
Jewelry
Dealers
From a supply perspective, now is the time to replenish your depleted inventory.
If you have some money to invest in inventory - there are deals to be had.
And you should have some cash. After all, that depleted inventory was sales.
From a sales perspective, gift giving occasions have not disappeared. Birthdays,
anniversaries, and many other reasons to give nice jewelry at a great price just
keep on coming. Your customers (and their friends) need what you offer!
A market where people perceive they should spend less fits right into your
marketing strategy...
