Usable Gems... and a little opinion.

Gem and Jewelry Season

I'm using this newsletter to say "Thank You" to all our inter-net customers. I'm happy to say it's been a busy and successful year for us. And we owe it all to you!

Now that I'll have a little time to sit and think, I'll come up with a spring special to say thank you in a more meaningful way.

Some of our customers have another few days to go before they can take a deep breath and relax.

This is the time of year when our retail jeweler customers must make it for the entire year, and they seem to be doing well…, some maybe not quite as good as last year, but still well.

Most retail jewelers in the U.S. do half their year's business between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Valentine's Day and Mother's Day account for some other busy times.

For those of us in the loose gem business, the busy season comes between September and Thanksgiving. That's when the retail jewelers are making up most of their Christmas season stock.

We add to that by selling gift gems and jewelry to you on the inter-net, so our busy season is spread over several months.

Now that the heavy sales season is coming to a close, we will turn our attention to those little things that needed fixing... and we had no time to spend on them.

We'll also take a few days for rest and relaxation between Christmas and the beginning of the New Year.

Then we'll start making preparations for the Tucson Gem Shows. At these shows we sell a little and we buy a little, but mostly we catch up on what's happening in the gem world.

We'll see some old friends from all around the world, and we'll hopefully see some new gems just being introduced to the market.

We'll fix a little problem with our new web host not being able to provide needed technical support.

He moved our site to a different server (computer connected to the inter-net backbone), but overlooked giving us the ability to access that new server and post updates to our site.

Then he was involved in an auto accident.

Thus, we have been unable to post any new material (and our newsletters) to the Azgem website for a couple of months. He's recovering nicely, and we'll be posting new material by mid-January.

Even though I'm writing this newsletter a few days before Christmas, I will not get to put it out for you to read until mid-January.

The up side of this problem is that we have several new items to show you.

Again, thank you for a great Year 2000.
